E-signatures and Indian law, in brief
Contracts. Section 10A of the Information Technology Act, 2000 says a contract formed electronically isn’t unenforceable just because of its electronic form.
Recognised signature types. The Act gives formal recognition to signatures made with digital signature certificates (DSC) and Aadhaar-based eSign. mndok creates simple electronic signatures, which are widely used for commercial agreements and rely on evidence: consent, identity by email, timestamps, IP addresses and a tamper-evident audit trail.
Evidence. Electronic records are admissible under the Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam, 2023, with a certificate where required. mndok’s evidence package and Certificate of Completion give you the records to support one.
Exclusions. Negotiable instruments other than cheques, powers of attorney, trusts, wills, and contracts for the sale or conveyance of immovable property need traditional execution.

E-sign in India: common questions
Are e-signatures valid in India?
Section 10A of the IT Act, 2000 says a contract isn’t unenforceable just because it was made electronically, and electronic records are admissible as evidence. The Act formally recognises signatures made with digital signature certificates and Aadhaar eSign; simple e-signatures rely on supporting evidence such as an audit trail.
Which documents can’t be e-signed in India?
The IT Act excludes negotiable instruments other than cheques, powers of attorney, trusts, wills, and contracts for the sale or conveyance of immovable property.
Is mndok free in India?
Yes: ₹0, forever, with no document limits. Pricing is the same everywhere.
What about stamp duty?
Some agreements attract stamp duty under state laws, whether signed on paper or electronically. Where it applies, pay it (many states offer e-stamping) before the agreement is signed.
